Veneers are thin shells of porcelain or resin material fabricated to cover the surfaces of the teeth. In most cases a small amount of enamel is removed in order to prepare the teeth for veneers. This usually takes two appointments. One appointment to prepare and temporize the teeth, with an impression. At the second appointment the veneers are bonded onto the prepared teeth.
Tooth whitening is removing the discoloration that can naturally occur on the teeth. Most commonly, we use a custom fitted tray system and a prescription strength whitening gel. Impressions are taken in order to fabricate the trays. Most people gain successful results in 7-10 days. As with most tooth whitening techniques, these “whiter” teeth will appear to darken again after approximately six months. We will discuss with each patient individually how often to use the gel and trays to maintain the color of teeth you desire. We also offer in chair whitening for people that need white teeth in a one visit, same day appointment. Whitening trays are needed for follow up and maintenance for this type of whitening also.
